IN THE ANIMAL WORLD

Dear friends, earlier we talked about how to transport pets to Turkey https://operaproperty.com/en/how-to-transport-pets-to-turkey/ Today we will tell you about the New law on registration of pets in Turkey.

Link to the law in Turkish: https://www.resmigazete.gov.tr/eskiler/2021/07/20210714-9.htm

In short: from the new year all dogs and cats in Turkey must be registered and microchipped. If the chip was delivered in another country, then it is enough to show the veterinarian the number from the veterinarian book. Registration and chipping of fighting breeds until January 14. Then the fine. If the dog is ordinary, then according to some information, all procedures can be carried out within the next year (but it is better to check with your veterinarian or government agency)

“In Turkey, from January 2022, the law on pets comes into force. All (absolutely all domestic cats and dogs) must be microchipped and registered with the veterinarian.

Will check from February !!!

If the pet does not have a passport with a registration number, a fine will fit

If you do not register and sterilize a breed prohibited for breeding, the fine is 11,000 lire. Registration of breeds not prohibited for breeding has been extended until the end of 2022.

If your pet already has a chip and a veterinary passport of any country, then the procedure is free. If the animal needs a chip, then the price, depending on the price of your veterinarian, usually from 200 liras

The procedure is very easy. Come to the veterinarian with the animal and its passport and say that you want to register. The veterinarian will check that the chip number from the animal matches that indicated in your veterinary passport. You are waiting for a couple of weeks for a response from a government agency. Then again you go to the veterinarian (it is already possible without an animal) and get a Turkish veterinary passport for your pet.

An example from the Izmir Veterinary Clinic

“When registering with ilçe tarım müdürlüğü, the rabies vaccination is done free of charge, a chip (42 lira) is paid for, it was the registration of a non-prohibited breed.”

Bottom line: owners of dogs and cats will have two passports, one international, the other Turkish.

What do you think about this? Do you have pets?
